Welcome to our school

My name is Ms Elder and I am the proud Head Teacher of Braeview Academy. I am pleased to welcome you to our new and evolving school website.

Visitors to the site, whether parents, carers or interested members of the local and wider community, will find a range of important information here.

After several years of the same website format, we decided that a degree of modernisation was due. As a result, our website continues to be developed and we aspire, in the longer term to make available to interested parties, as comprehensive a guide as possible, to the school and its activities, and the successes and achievements of our young people.

We pride ourselves on the strong working relationships that exist between our staff, young people and their families. These relationships underpin all aspects of school life.

You will see our School Vision and Values on this site. These were developed through collaboration between pupils, parents and carers, school staff and our wider community partners.

We aspire to ensure that the values of Ambition, Responsibility and Safety are the golden thread that runs through all of our relationships, activities, decisions and actions. These values continue to serve us well.

Over the last few years, our school community has demonstrated considerable resilience and determination to overcome significant challenge and change. Following a fire at the school in September 2018, our pupils and staff spent 3 months split between two host local secondary schools. Working together, we rose to the challenge, returned to the top of the brae in December 2018 and adapted to a very different campus that includes a large classroom Portakabin village.

At Braeview Academy we are pleased to offer a full and skills-based curriculum within the Broad General Education and Senior Phase. Through our increasing range of partnerships, we are pleased to have made significant progress in implementing skills for work learning opportunities and providing young people with valuable experience in the workplace.

We are delighted that over 97% of our school leavers move onto college, employment, training or university.

I hope our website gives you an insight into the great work we do and the extensive opportunities we provide to young people here at the top of the brae.

If you fail to find the information you need, or would like to visit us, please do not hesitate to phone the school to make arrangements. We would love to welcome you to our fabulous school, for a tour or a chat over a coffee.
