House Names

New House Names

April 2018 saw the creation of our three new Houses : Discovery, Law and McManus. And along with the new vision and values, these names are symbolic of our determination to learn and to achieve at school and in life:

Discovery - The link is with the Scientific Research Ship Discovery docked next to the V and A.  Built in Dundee and voyaging to the Antarctic, the ship represents strength and resilience to withstand great challenges, as well as the desire to seek out new knowledge.

Law – The link is with the Dundee Law and represents not just a central landmark, but is also, a vantage point for looking around and seeing what is out there in life.  The Law is an extinct volcano, the soil around is fertile and enables growth.

McManus - The link is with the McManus galleries in town. Once a library for science students it is now a library and local history museum, which enables us to learn about the rich vibrant history, art, music, literature and business enterprise in Dundee.
